Los Angeles, the City of Angels, is one of the many places you must visit before you die. With a huge variety of tourist attractions, Los Angeles is an ideal place to travel to. Last winter break, my high school friends and I met up in Los Angeles for a small reunion. It was honestly one of the best trips I have had so far although it was short. During our trip, the weather was very windy and gloomy; it was very unfortunate that we could not do a lot of outdoor activities. So, instead, we just went out to eat (a lot). I am almost sure I gained an extra kilogram or two. Whether you are travelling for a day or a whole month, here is my list of the 5 best places to eat in Los Angeles (in no particular order).
1. MAMA’S SHELTER (ROOFTOP BAR)
$$$$ | American, Bar | 6500 Selma Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028 | 3.5/5
Mama’s Shelter was one of the first restaurants that we went to Mama’s Shelter is actually a boutique hotel with a rooftop bar that serves lunch at noon, dinner in the afternoon and a bar later at night. I really enjoyed the pretty view of the city and the vibrant vibe of the place. The place was very photogenic, great for the gram! I would definitely reccommend their truffle fries, so delicious!
2. UMAMI BURGER
$$$$ | Burger, American | 189 The Grove Dr, Ste C-10, Los Angeles, CA 90036 | 4.5/5
If you are craving for some good gourmet burger, this is the place for you! Personally, I really like the Truffle Burger, but I heard that every one of them is different and as tasty. Umami Burger is located in many places around Los Angeles, there are even outlets in other states. Also, did i mention that they make vegetarian burgers? They call it The Impossible Burger. If your mouth is watering like mine, maybe it’s a sign you should visit Umami Burger.
3. SOOWON GALBI
$$$$ | Korean, Barbeque | 856 S Vermont Ave, Ste C, Los Angeles, CA 90005 | 4.5/5
For all my KBBQ fans, I got you. Trust me. Soowon Galbi is heaven to meat lover, I guarantee. The servers are super friendly, the atmosphere is chill, and the food is amazing. What else can you ask for? Be aware that sometimes there are long queues, but that’s how you know they serve good food!
4. ALFRED TEA ROOM
$$$$ | Bubble Tea, Coffee & Tea | 705 N Alfred St, Los Angeles, CA 90069 | 3/5
But first, boba. Okay, look, this place may not have the best boba in the whole wide world, but its aesthetic makes up for it (hands down). The place is rather small but the cafe was so cute. The cups are so pretty, the place is so pretty. You should check them out! Don’t forget to bring your cards because they do not accept cash.
5. SONORITAS PRIME TACOS
$$$$ | Mexican | 2004 Sawtelle Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025 | 4/5
I first heard about the restaurant from a friend. He reccommended me to try out this restaurant and I do not regret it at all. The restaurant was quite small but it was an intimate and cute environment. Every bite I took tasted amazing, I honestly loved it. I just wish they have more space so we could fit more people in one table. However, if you are going with a party of two to four, you should be fine!
Hope you can check out the places I mentioned above because I really enjoyed all the restaurants I visited during my trip to Los Angeles. Hope it is useful and hope to see you soon in my next post.
Love, Josephine K
