Last winter break, me and my friend flew to Vancouver, Canada, to visit our high school friends. We haven’t seen each other in months, hence, I was very grateful to get the chance to meet everyone once again. Vancouver is a city for nature lovers and foodies. During my trip, I gained so much weight because all we did was eat, shop, sleep, and repeat. Here are my top 7 restaurants because I cannot narrow it down to just 5.
1. JINYA RAMEN BAR
$$$$$ | Ramen | 541 Robson St, Vancouver, BC V6B, Canada | 4.5/5
This place is amazing. I had a great experience eating in Jinya Ramen Bar, it is absolutely one of the best restaurants I visited in Downtown Vancouver. My friend actually took me here. I ordered the JINYA Tonkotsu Black; it was very delicious that we went back the next day for round two. Sometimes there is a long line but the wait is worth it. The chicken karage is also very tasty. It is altogether a very great restaurant!
$$$$$ | Ramen | 530 Robson St, Vancouver, BC V6B 2B7, Canada |4.5/5
Just across Jinya Ramen Bar you will find yourself Japanese-style hot dogs. It is relatively cheap and you will not find the same experience anywhere else. If you are looking for a quick meal, this hot dog is perfect for on the go. The Japanese-style fillings and toppings might sound odd but I assure you its variety in style is amazing. My favorite is the Terimayo and the Black Pepper Shaked Fries.
$$$$$ | Breakfast & Brunch | 546 W Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1E9, Canada | 4/5
Hands down one of the best breakfast restaurants I visited! The egg was perfectly poached and the hollandaise sauce was amazing. This place is definitely Instagram worthy, but if you are planning to visit during weekends, you might be stuck sitting next to a stranger like I did. The restaurant was quite small and the line was crazy long. It is definitely one you cannot miss though.
4. MEDINA CAFE
$$$$$ | Breakfast & Brunch | 780 Richards Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 3A4, Canada | 4/5
This cafe is definitely instagram worthy. Their belgian waffles are to die for, pair it with some chocolate syrup and you’re set. The waffles were also so good. My friend ordered a plate full of different types of meat and I ordered a classic breakfast sandwich. They also serve my favorite hot drink, the london fog! You should definitely give this cafe a try.
5. SEASONS IN THE PARK
$$$$$ | Seafood | Queen Elizabeth Park, 33rd Ave, Vancouver, BC V5Y 2M5, Canada | 4/5
I celebrated my anniversary here. This is definitely on the more pricey range. The place was elegant and quiet. Their service was great and the view was very pretty. If you are looking for dinner with a scenic view, this one is for you.
6. ZEFFERELLI’S SPAGHETTI JOINT
$$$$$ | Italian, Bars | 1136 Robson Street, Vancouver, BC V6E 1B2, Canada |4/5
I ate so many Italian dishes throughout this trip, but so far this one is the best. The restaurant was on the second floor, it was a little hard to find. The place was very quiet but their service was great. They are also located in a very nice street, the Robson street; you can see a view of the street from where we were dining. The pasta was delicious! Also, let me tell you, their portion is huge! So if you know that you are not going to eat much, order half the portion.
7. DAE BAK BON GA
$$$$$ | Korean| 1323 Robson Street Suite 201, Vancouver, BC V6E 1C6, Canada| 4/5
One last dinner to close the trip. This is definitely the way to go. With only two dollar signs, you can get an all you can eat korean barbeque experience. I actually went to celebrate a friend’s birthday and I gotta say it was worth every penny. Happy tummy, happy me!
Hope you get to try one of the places I have listed above! Have fun!
